7.0 Earthquake in California on December 5, 2024

A strong tremor with a magnitude of 7.0 was reported this Thursday, December 5, at 10:44 a.m. local time in Los Angeles it triggered a brief tsunami warning, U.S. authorities reported.. The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of California, near McKinleyville. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles), according to the USGS. 

The earthquake occurred after two smaller tremors in the same area on Wednesday, which registered magnitudes of 4.2 and 4.4, although they did not trigger alerts.
